Anyone out there use the field dressing technique where you don't gut the animal. How well does this work in comparison to the old method.

If you have to pack it out it will save time,if you can get a vehicle to it gut it and take it out whole or in half, have done whitetails in about 15 minutes, elk usually take about 45 to 1hour depending on location and conditions,i personally think that non gut technic is the way to go. Took about three elk to really get it down.

once the animal is shot im in no big hurry, plus it makes it harder to get the tender loins out./there just guts goahead and dig em out. qourter or debone and pack out.i like the cut in half and drive them out with the atv, keeps meat cleaner.

I did 6 bulls like that last year, It makes it nice for packing. If you do it right it is very clean and getting the tender loins out is really easy.

basser can you explane to me how to get the tenders out?where do you make the cut to get to them?on the side or between the stomach leg area?ive ben thinking about this and if all three in are party fill tags we might try this on the wifes cow.just so she dosent get turned of by the hole gutting thing.this will be her first hunt and ide like her to stick with it.itll work out better for me ....lol.....

I don't know how to explain it I just go in right by the tender loin and get between the gut sack and use my hand to pull it loose. When you get everthing else done just roll the carcass a little bit and you can make room to get them out. Try it a couple times and you will figure it out.
I think jw was just saying that with some guys the wife is kinda hard to convince to use money on hunting stuff but if they like it, it is easier to get them to let the men spend money on hunting. JW is trying to get involved on this forum and is learning the sport lets help out the new guys.
