I made a trade the other day with my brother-in-law in mind. He lives in CO and is an archery nut, but has been talking about getting a rifle. Long story short, I have a rifle that I don't really have a need for, but its cool and I may just hang on to it. Here's what I now have:

Custom (About 3 grand invested) Weatherby Vanguard VGX .270 Win. with Leupold Tactical 3x9 Scope

Remington 700 SPS .22-250 with Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14 Scope

Ruger M77 Stainless Synthetic 7MM Mag with Simmons 6-18x50mm Scope

Here are the questions:

1. Keep the Ruger? Why? Won't the .270 do 99.5% of what the 7mm will?

2. If I keep the Ruger, do I swap scopes with the .22-250, or get rid of the Simmons altogether and just buy a Leupold for the Ruger? Before you answer..know that I happen to be a bit of a "scope snob".

I would keep the 270 set up in tact. 270 is a great shooting gun and that set up is a decent set up. The 7mm is also a good set up to but the ruger and scope are on the cheap side

Problem Solved. My brother in law came through. He got a pretty smokin deal also.

Larry, congrats again on the baby.

I'd keep the 700 with the VX-III glass on top. Weatherby's have been cookie cutter rifles the last 6 years, 270=7mm in my opinion with the 7mm having better ballistics.

Get a man's rifle, 300Win Mag or 300 WSM, Rem 700 frames of course.;)
